Behind the Green Ginger

It's still my first month of blogging and I thought I'd spend the next few weeks or so just breaking down who I am, and what my brand is... SUPER VEGAN REDHEAD!


Uhm, kidding... I mess up a lot, but props for trying, right?


THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME


My boyfriend and some of his mates are in an "agriculturally inclined" side-business. Essentially they build miniature indoor greenhouses that make it easier to control the variables like humidity, temperature and light exposure. They work really well, and we're currently using them for little herbs and veggies that we're trying to keep alive.


I say "we", really it's all Sheldon.


I'm bad with plants. Great with animals, terrible with the green things.


Their newest adventure is to convert old shipping containers into ecological niches perfect for growing all types of veggies and herbs, in a system that's called "vertical growing". It's really cool, you should Google it ;)

Basically they were brainstorming names and brands, and my only input was that if I was starting a plant-based business, given that I've gone vegan and we're trying to be environmentally and ecological sustainable, and that I was gifted (or cursed) with Mom's flaming locks, I'd go for the Green Ginger.


Two months later, blog goes up and I have to think of a suitable name....


So, welcome to the Green Ginger, where all good literature and animals are welcome. Feel free to grab a mug of coffee, climb into those sweatpants that feel like hugs, burn the bra and join the conversation.

In due time I will introduce you to our furry floofbeans - Bean, Kira-Bean, and Butter-Bean (right), as well our feathery bean flap-flap, Kip Kip, and our best girl, Halle.
